All Creatures Great and Small

Plastics and Pesticides

There are two important issues I will be putting in the book. One is about all the plastics in the ocean that are killing fish, turtles, dolphins, whales and other aquatic animals.  This has to be corrected.  The other is the misuse of pesticides that are destroying our ecosystem, including killing beneficial insects, birds and other animals.   I am going to write a letter today to our NM senators and representatives and I will copy Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez.  I am going to ask them to pass legislation putting a halt to selling and manufacturing single use plastics in the country.  I am also going to ask them to pass legislation requiring that all pesticides and herbicides have to be proven safe for people and the environment by independent testing.  Not testing done by the pesticide manufacturers.  Also requiring all pesticides and herbicides currently in use be recalled if they are not proven safe and environmentally friendly.  There are safe pesticides (EPA Exempt) available and they should be the only pesticides permitted to be sold and used.  Of course Trump will never agree with this, but hopefully we can get a good president and congress in 2020 that can pass these legislations.

About askthebugman

I have been in the pest management industry for over 40 years. In that time I have used almost every pesticide available to control so-called “pests”. With this experience, I have learned over the years that the pesticides we use are far more dangerous than the pests we are trying to control. As a result, it has become a passion for me to improve the quality of life for humans and the planet, by assisting people to not only become more educated and aware of their environment – but also by learning to manage their home and business with a sustainable and healthier approach to tending to unwanted infestations of bugs.
