All Creatures Great and Small

Coronavirus opinion

The coronavirus pandemic is terrible, and I don’t think it is going away. This is just my opinion. It originated from live animal markets in China where wild animals are routinely slaughtered and sold to people on site. The animals live in terrible conditions that creates an environment where the germination and spread of diseases are possible. The virus spread to humans in the area and it spread quickly around the world as people brought the virus with them to our country and others. The virus is doing very well in humans. It is a serious disease in many people and is not even noticeable in many others. We may reduce the amount of cases with our lockdowns, isolations, no crowds, etc., but it won’t kill the virus. The virus will continue to be in people who are not affected and when the lockdowns are lifted, and when we go to sports games, crowded restaurants, bars and rallies again we will have another pandemic. Basically, the lockdowns are good for the environment as the atmosphere is much cleaner because we don’t drive as much or fly in planes.

Schools are closed now as they should be but when they open next semester in the Fall, it could threaten children again. We may have to develop a system to teach children without going to crowded schools. If we can develop a vaccine that kills the virus, that will be good, but we will have to vaccinate everyone in the country and around the world. I am not sure we can create a vaccine that does that and that does not have side-effects that will make matters worse.

I think the only way we are going to win this war, as trump calls it, is to never create crowds anywhere for any reason. Say goodbye to professional sports with stadiums full of people. We should only travel when it is important and not just drive and fly around for fun. We need to have restaurants and bars with seating far apart. No more political rallies. We also need to make sure we spend money creating hospitals and generating medical professionals as health will be a serious issue for the next couple of decades. This isn’t the end of the world, but it is definitely a life changing world.

About askthebugman

I have been in the pest management industry for over 40 years. In that time I have used almost every pesticide available to control so-called “pests”. With this experience, I have learned over the years that the pesticides we use are far more dangerous than the pests we are trying to control. As a result, it has become a passion for me to improve the quality of life for humans and the planet, by assisting people to not only become more educated and aware of their environment – but also by learning to manage their home and business with a sustainable and healthier approach to tending to unwanted infestations of bugs. 1. While no wildlife species has been identified as being the possible origin of this disease, we know that across their distributions, two species of mammals: beautiful fruit bats and wonderful, endangered Pangolins carry coronavirus strains that have RNA similar to that of the strain that currently is causing Covid-19. Should either of these species be determined to be the source of this strain, i can take solace that that species has exacted its revenge on the slimebags who collect, slaughter, and eat them…and the rest of our species, as well.
