All Creatures Great and Small

Roaches and ants

The two most common pests that are active now are cockroaches and ants. If you have any of these pests, you can control them yourself. You do not need a pest control company to spray toxic pesticides in and around your home.

If you have large brown American roaches or black Oriental roaches you can put some pie pans filled with beer outside where they are active. They like beer and will climb in and drown and they don’t check IDs. Also, they like good beer, not Lite beer. I am not making this up. In your house you can put some duct tape down, sticky side up where you see the roaches. They are attracted to the glue on the tape and will get stuck. If you have smaller, German roaches, you can get them under control with German Roach Pheromone Traps. Just place them in cabinets, on counters or wherever you see these roaches. The roaches will be attracted to the traps and get stuck. Pheromone traps are available online.

If you have ants, most species can be controlled with Terro Bait, which is a liquid bait made from boric acid and is available in stores that sell bug stuff. Some species require other methods. I have a handbook available entitled “Identification and Control of Household Ants” which is available if you want a copy. There is no charge for this handbook as it is important that we quit using pesticides that are contributing to Global Destruction and that can compromise our immune systems so we are more susceptible to viruses, including coronavirus. The book is illustrated so it will help you identify any ants you have. It is only available in PDF format, so if you want a copy email me at askthebugman2013@gmail.com and I will send you a copy. Again, no charge for this.

When I say pesticides are responsible for Global Destruction, it is because they are often misused where they are sprayed all around homes which destroys the ecosystem by killing many beneficial insects and many birds and other animals that feed on insects and are poisoned because of the pesticides that killed the insects. In reality, songbirds often feed on dead insects and can be severely injured by the pesticides.

If you have any pest issues, I will help you to the best of my ability. Just contact me at the email address above

About askthebugman

I have been in the pest management industry for over 40 years. In that time I have used almost every pesticide available to control so-called “pests”. With this experience, I have learned over the years that the pesticides we use are far more dangerous than the pests we are trying to control. As a result, it has become a passion for me to improve the quality of life for humans and the planet, by assisting people to not only become more educated and aware of their environment – but also by learning to manage their home and business with a sustainable and healthier approach to tending to unwanted infestations of bugs. 1. A friend found a sun spider inside her jouse.she unfortunately killed it.she also has dogs.how would you manage this?she is very afraid of spiders. I am posting a check to you today. As I have many questions too, I must say the duct tape has deterred my roaches but as warm weather happens, who knows? Thanks Wendy Keller
