Safe pest control metods

I have posted this before, but with this terrible pandemic going on, you certainly shouldn’t be exposed to pesticides, which can compromise your immune system.  There are many safe and effective ways to control pests.

You can do your own pest control.  You can kill any bug in your house with a mixture of water (40%), alcohol (40%) and dish soap (20%). No need to ever use pesticides inside your home or business.

If you have a specific pest, here are some recommendations

Cockroaches (beer and duct tape)

Ants (Terro Bait works for most small ants)

Earwigs (newspaper)

Silverfish (baby food jars and flour)

Paper wasps (brown paper bags, Avon Skin so Soft)

Bed bugs (alcohol, water & dish soap, hair dryer)

Head lice (salt water, hair dryer)

Fungus gnats (aquarium gravel)

Fruit flies (vinegar)

Carpet beetles (dirty socks and cheese)

Spiders (peppermint essential oil)

Mice (snap traps baited with a piece of Slim Jim)

Never use rodenticides or glue boards for mice

Here is a recipe for a very good mosquito repellent that you can make yourself.

Combine in a 16 oz. bottle:

15 drops lavender oil

3-4 Tbsp. of vanilla extract

1/4 Cup lemon juice.

Fill bottle with water. Shake. Ready to use.

is no reason to spray pesticides in or around your home in most circumstances.  I also have relevant handbooks I can send you.  If you want more information on the issues mentioned above or you have any pest questions, you can email me at

About askthebugman

I have been in the pest management industry for over 40 years. In that time I have used almost every pesticide available to control so-called “pests”. With this experience, I have learned over the years that the pesticides we use are far more dangerous than the pests we are trying to control. As a result, it has become a passion for me to improve the quality of life for humans and the planet, by assisting people to not only become more educated and aware of their environment – but also by learning to manage their home and business with a sustainable and healthier approach to tending to unwanted infestations of bugs. 1. Hi, I am someone who is 100% positive that I have Springtails (elongated) living on my body, in my hair and they burrow into my skin and lay their eggs, or even just hide under my skin and come out to feed on the dead cells on my body at night. I know that there is no evidence supporting this on the internet and people like myself are treated like we’re nuts, but I am trapped living on 12 acres with millions of them outside converging on me and my pets without any mercy. I captured some visible, adult ones and had skin scrapings analysed at an Entomology department and they confirmed Springtails. They don’t bite, but their burrowing can feel like a bite. I wish someone would take an interest in my story so that a solution can be created for everyone claiming this phenomena. It’s been a year and a half that I have been suffering and have spent over $6000. And knowing their behaviour, why is it not plausible that they can decide to reside on a human body instead of a peace of wood?.. Please contact me if you believe me.. Dyann (in Sydney, Australia).
